Joel Beckham(Class of 1999) is in his 2nd year of Divinity School in Wake Forest, N.C. He is working on his Masters of Divinity and will go into the ministry. We are proud of the "Beckham Two". Our sympathy goes out to the family of O. H. and Irene Freeman. Their son, Gary Freeman, and his family are a part of our school family. Son, Jeff(Class of 1983) and daughter, Jane Freeman Kushy(Class of 1977) are alumni of Vance Academy. O. H. died November 5, 2007 and Irene lived only three months, dying on February 4, 2008. Our prayers are with this family. [...]

Alex Drake, DDS, 1996 graduate of Kerr-Vance Academy and recent honors graduate of UNC-CH School of Dentistry, will be practicing in Oxford with Drs. Bart Cleary and Reed Spears. Alex recently completed his residency at Palmetto Hospital in Columbia, S.C. Dr. Drake has completed extensive training in implant dentistry, hospital operating room dentistry with special needs patients and sedation dentistry. Dr. Drake was a Dean's List student and received the Raynor/Miska Scholarship in 2005-2006 and the Dr. James Baldwin Hancock Memorial Scholarship in 2003-2004. He completed his undergraduate work at UNC-Chapel Hill where he received the Eastern District N C Public Health Association Scholarship Award and was admitted to the Golden Key National Honor Society. He interned at Murdock Center in Butner. Dr. Drake also participated in th UNC School of Dentistry Mexico Project. Dr. Drake is the son of Dr. Roddy and Beverly Drake. He is married to Dr. Darcy Hampton Drake, and they live in Oxford. We would like to congratulate Alex and wish him and his family the best of everything. [...]
