Admissions Process
We’re excited to welcome you to Kerr-Vance Academy! We’re honored you’re considering Kerr-Vance Academy, and we’re here to make this transition as smooth, supportive, and welcoming as possible
Campus Visit and Interview
A campus visit and interview are a part of every applicant’s journey with us—and a wonderful opportunity for you to experience our close-knit community firsthand.
You’re invited to schedule a visit at any time during the school year. During your time on campus, you'll meet with our friendly Leadership Team, explore our classrooms and facilities, and visit the grade level your student is applying for. We want you to feel right at home
Application
Our application process is simple and accessible online. A $100 application fee is required, and we’re always here to help if you have any questions along the way—just reach out!
Once your child has been accepted, we’ll request a copy of their birth certificate and documentation of all legally required immunizations.
Affording KVA
We believe every child deserves access to a quality education. Kerr-Vance Academy proudly participates in the North Carolina Opportunity Scholarship Program, offering support to families who qualify based on income.
If you’re interested in learning more about what this means for you and your family, please contact our Business Office for helpful guidance on available options and how to apply. We’re here to accompany you through the process
Student Records & Recommendations
Student records, including transcripts/report cards, Standardized Test scores, and any relevant IEP or 504 paperwork (if applicable) are all part of the complete application.
Additionally, for students applying for Grades 1-11 are asked to have a previous teacher complete a simple teacher recommendation form. The link to this form will be provided following the campus tour and interview.
Admissions Assessment
Getting to know your child—beyond the application. As part of the admissions process for students entering Kindergarten through Grade 6, we include a brief, informal assessment. This is a low-stakes opportunity designed to help us:
Get to know your child personally
Understand their learning style and current academic strengths
Observe how they engage with basic skills like reading comprehension and math
Learn more about their work ethic and classroom readiness
The assessment is conducted by one of our caring educators and typically takes about 20 minutes. It can be scheduled on the same day as your tour and interview, or arranged for another convenient time.
This is not a test with high-pressure outcomes. It’s simply one way we begin building a relationship—with your child at the center.
Enrollment
Once all parts of the admissions process are complete—including your visit, interview, and (if applicable) assessment—our school leadership team will be in touch regarding your child’s enrollment status.
If your child is offered enrollment and invited to join the Kerr-Vance Academy family, you will receive a welcome letter and an official Enrollment Agreement
Once the Enrollment Agreement is signed and returned, your child’s spot is secure—you’re officially part of the KVA community! We can’t wait to partner with your family and support your child’s journey ahead.
