Career and College Promise Program

Kerr Vance Academy will host a Career and College Promise Program night on February 24th at 5:30 PM in our library.  Kierra Robinson from Vance Granville Community College will present all the information you may want to know about our dual enrollment partnership with VGCC.  Students can begin this program as rising 11th graders, so this summer, and we would like to invite students and families to attend, so that you can be thinking about the different pathways available to your student.

Please mark the date on your calendar, look for email reminders, and plan to join us for this very informative session!

Sincerely,

Fall Festival

Tickets will be on sale for $10 from Monday October 6, through Friday October 17. These are the two weeks before we leave for Fall Break on October 18-21. Tickets will also be on sale at the door the evening of the event, for $15, but we are hoping that you will buy tickets before Fall Break, so that we can plan our supplies of trick- or – treat bags, candy, the numbers of craft items needed, faces to be painted, the line for the Haunted House, the numbers of meals to be served from our food truck (“All Smoked Up”, owned by our very own Ellington family), the layout of games, including a Frozen themed bouncy slide/house, Marvel Comics themed bouncy slide/house, Three Sport ball Kick or Toss game, Ring the 2Liter of your choice, “Go Fish”, Hoppy Ball relays…and more!

There are also plans for a Silent Auction and Bake Sale (with 3 announced Cake Walks throughout the evening), so start planning your contributions and items that you hope to purchase! Homeroom classes are preparing themed baskets for the Silent Auction. If your student’s homeroom teacher hasn’t reached out yet, they will contact you soon to ask for your participation in a themed basket of items to be auctioned. These baskets are much fun to create as a team and are very popular auction items. Other popular auction items are donated tickets for sporting events, pieces of art, housewares, items of jewelry and clothing, gift cards for services, groceries, gas, meals …be thinking of items that you may have available to donate! Also be thinking of homemade baked items that are your favorite to prepare and display for the Bake Sale tables!

Our theme for this year’s Festival is “Old School…by the Whole School” and we hope that you’ll participate and make it a fabulous evening for our elementary students! Invite extended family, neighbors, and friends and get your tickets early J Feel free to email your student’s homeroom teacher or ME (wballinger@kerrvance.com) with any questions or ideas.
